McNeese will end the 2022 at home against long-time rival Lamar in the Battle of the Border game as updated 2022 football schedule has been released. The revised schedule is a result of Incarnate Word deciding to remain in the Southland Conference while Lamar rejoined a year earlier than expected.
McNeese will now host six games in The Hole this year as the first four games of the season remain unchanged – Sept. 3 at Montana State, Sept. 10 at Rice, Sept. 17 vs. Alcorn State in the home opener, and Sept. 24 at home against Mississippi College.
The Cowboys will head to San Antonio for an Oct. 1 visit with UIW to begin league play. Following a bye week, new league member Texas A&M-Commerce will come to Lake Charles on Oct. 15. The Cowboys will travel to Nicholls on Oct. 22 before returning to Cowboy Stadium vs. Southeastern Louisiana on Oct. 29 for homecoming as three of the final four games will be played at home.
On Nov. 5, McNeese will host Eastern Illinois, will visit HBU on Nov. 12 and then close out the regular season on Nov. 19 in The Hole against Lamar.
Originally, the Cowboys were to host HBU on Oct. 1 and visit TAMU-Commerce on Oct. 15 and Northwestern State on Nov. 19. The Cowboys will not play the Demons this season under the new revision.
