The McNeese Cowboys didn’t have to look far to add to its roster.
Will Wade picked up a commitment on Friday afternoon from Texas A&M-Commerce sophomore forward Jerome Brewer Jr.
The 6-foot-9 star is coming off a season in which he averaged 13.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for the Lions. Brewer scored a season-high 32 points against McNeese in the Southland Conference opener on January 6th.
Brewer signed with A&M-Commerce out of Camden High School in New Jersey where he scored over 1,000 points in his prep career. He made an instant impact for A&M-Commerce as a true freshman when he averaged 8.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
The addition of Brewer is the sixth player Wade has added out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. He joins Syracuse guard Quadir Copeland, Ole Miss guard Brandon Murray, Arizona State forward Bryant Selebangue, Saint Louis University guard Sincere Parker, and Louisiana forward Joe Charles.
In addition to the six transfers, McNeese returns several key pieces from last year’s historic 30-win team that earned a berth in the NCAA Men’s Tournament, including Christian Schumate, Javohn Garcia, DJ Richards Jr., and Mike Saunders Jr.
