Gary Goff keeps trying to improve his roster.
McNeese’s third-year coach added two more players to the Cowboys roster on Thursday morning, with Coastal Carolina tight end Logan Mauldin and San Francisco City College defensive tackle Simeon Mitchell joining the team.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Mauldin played sparingly in four seasons with the Chanticleers of the Sun Belt Conference. He first opted out of his freshman season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, then appeared in two games in 2021 but didn’t record a statistic, and played in three games in 2022 recording one catch for nine yards.
Mauldin did not receive any playing action during the 2023 season. He was rated a three-star recruit by 247Sports coming out of Myers Park High School in Florida in 2020.
Mitchell arrives in Lake Charles after playing two seasons at San Francisco City College which plays in the California Community College Athletic Association.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound sophomore defensive tackle appeared in 11 games for the Rams last season, recording 40 total tackles (20 solo), 13 tackles for a loss and seven sacks.
The addition of Mauldin gives McNeese a total of 12 transfers from the FBS level.
