The McNeese Cowgirls have hired Ashton Feldhaus as their next women’s basketball coach, the school announced on Tuesday.
The move comes days after Ayla Guzzardo left for the Georgia head coach position.
Feldhaus, a Kentucky native, spent the past season in charge of Morehead State. She was hired at McNeese by interim Director of Athletics Bridget Martin.
“I’m incredibly excited to be part of a place that has so much momentum and so many great things already happening,” said Feldhaus. “Coming off such a successful season, it’s clear this program is built on a strong foundation, and I’m honored to help build on that success. I’m especially excited to be part of the community in Southwest Louisiana and to work alongside them as we continue striving to win championships and compete at the highest level.”
In her one season at Morehead State, Feldhaus led her squad to an 18-15 record. Prior to that, she spent one year in charge of Missouri Western.
Feldhaus has been highly regarded as a young coach in the industry. She has been recognized by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) as one of their top 30 under 30 selections.
McNeese is coming off of a 29-7 season in which they fell just one game short of the NCAA Tournament.
