McNeese softball places eight players on All-SLC teams

The McNeese softball team placed a league high eight players, including three on the first team, on the 2023 All-Southland Conference teams.

McNeese utility player Chloe Gomez, outfielder Alayis Seneca, and pitcher Whitney Tate were named to the All-SLC first team. Second baseman Marianna Torres, shortstop Reese Reyna, third baseman Rylie Bouvier, outfielder Erin Ardoin, and pitcher Ashley Vallejo were placed on the second team.

Gomez produced a .355 conference batting average and has a .324 overall batting average with 35 hit, 12 doubles and 15 RBI. Seneca led the SLC with a .425 batting average, 31 hits, and 20 runs scored.

Tate is 15-4 overall and 7-1 in the SLC with eight shutouts on the year (4 in SLC games). Torres leads the team with 35 RBI and is third on the team with 43 hits.

Reyna led the SLC with 20 runs scored, ranked second with 14 stolen bases, fourth with a .386 batting average in conference games. Bouvier has a .283 overall batting average and a .317 batting average in conference games.

Ardoin is third on the team with an overall .313 batting average and leads the team with 19 walks and is third on the team with 16 stolen bases. Vallejo is 16-8 overall and tied for a SLC high 10 wins (10-1) in league play.
