McNeese senior pitcher Shaelyn Sanders has been selected as the Southland Conference “Pitcher of the Week.”
The Splendora, Texas native appeared in all four games for the Cowgirls this past week, and she posted a 2-0 overall record while also recording a pair of saves.
Sanders picked up wins in the opening game and series finale against Houston Christian, while her saves came against Sam Houston in a midweek game and the second game of the series against HCU.
For the week, Sanders posted a 0.00 ERA in 14.2 shutout innings, gave up nine hits (all singles), and two walks, struck out 20 hitters, and held opponents to a .176 batting average.
This is the second SLC honor of the season for Sanders, who also received recognition back in March.
McNeese is 33-15 overall and 17-1 in SLC play and will host the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns on Wednesday. The first pitch is set for 6 p.m. at Joe Miller Field at Cowgirl Diamond.
