Is there anything that Mondo Duplantis can’t do?
The former Lafayette High and LSU star, now crushing world records and winning Olympic gold in the pole vault, decided to try his hand at the shortest race in the world during an exhibition event in Zurich, beating out the world record holder in the 400m hurdles in Karsten Warholm from Norway.
Duplantis recorded a time of 10.37 while Warholm came in close behind at 10.47, both of which would’ve qualified in the prelims of the Paris Olympics.
“I’m pretty fired up. How could I not be?” Duplantis said following the event held at Letzigrund Stadium.
“You know, I’ve got to give it to Mondo,” Warholm said. “He beat me today, fair and square, so it was a great race. He was out the blocks so fast. He was out really sharp.”
Both superstars will compete in their usual events on Thursday during this exhibition event in Zurich.
Duplantis has broken 10 world records in the pole vault and even ran the 100m sprint in high school for the Mighty Lions.
