Myles Brennan Suffers Broken Arm – Will Have Surgery.

LSU quarterback Myles Brennan suffered a left arm injury that will require surgery, LSU and head coach Ed Orgeron announced Monday.

“Myles Brennan suffered a severe injury that will require surgery,” Orgeron said. “His timeline is yet to be determined. Myles has done everything we have asked of him this summer and was in the fight to be the starting quarterback at LSU.”

It almost would have been easier if Brennan had never come so close to being QB1 at LSU. To be teased as the Tiger’s starting QB over and over again throughout his LSU career and then never fully achieving it is utter torture.

After getting some significant playing time as a freshman in 2017, Brennan was asked to sit on the bench for two years behind Ohio State transfer Joe Burrow.

Most highly recruited QB’s would transfer to another school. Not Brennan. He grew up a life-long Tiger fan and refused to give up on his dream to be the starter for the purple and gold.

Brennan got his chance in 2020 and after three games he suffered an injury that sidelined him for the rest of the season. Now in the midst of a QB battle between sophomore Max Johnson, Brennan breaks his non-throwing arm and will have surgery tomorrow.

LSU now turns to sophomore QB Max Johnson to lead the Tigers into 2021. Johnson was considered a favorite to win the job by some insiders, but no one wanted the QB competition to end this way.

If there is any upside, it’s that Ed Orgeron and his staff now know who will get the starting reps in fall camp to better prepare for the season. It’s a brutal way to put it, but the Tigers have to move forward without one of the toughest and most loyal players to ever wear the purple and gold.

Myles Brennan deserves that recognition.
