Malik Nabers will miss the rest of the 2025 NFL season.

The former Comeaux High-Southside High star suffered a knee injury with 6:12 left in the second quarter of Sunday’s game between the Los Angeles Chargers and the New York Giants. The second-year pro was attempting to catch a deep pass from Jaxson Dart on a free play due to a defensive offside penalty.

He did not return, and New York Giants coach Brian Daboll confirmed on Monday that Nabers had torn his ACL and will miss the rest of the season.

“We’ll have a tremendous amount of support for him and his family,” Daboll said on Monday. “That’s obviously a tough loss for our football team, but we’ll regroup, and we’ll get the guys ready to play that are here and be as good as we can be. On the perimeter, I know those guys will do everything they can do to be as good as we can be. But certainly, when you lose one of your better players, that’s a big loss.”

In four games this season, Nabers totaled 18 receptions for 271 yards, including 167 and two touchdowns.

As a rookie last season, Nabers set a Giants record with 109 receptions. That is two more than Steve Smith’s former franchise record of 107, which was set in 2009.

The former LSU star recorded 1,204 receiving yards and scored seven touchdowns. His 109 receptions placed him fifth in the NFL in 2024, and his 1,204 receiving yards were the league’s seventh-highest total.

Nabers’ 109 receptions were the most by a rookie wide receiver in NFL history, topping the 105 catches the Rams’ Puka Nacua tallied in 2023.

Nabers left LSU as the program’s all-time leader in receptions (189) and receiving yards (3,003) and accomplished the feat in three seasons. Nabers is one of two players in Tiger history to top the 3,000-yard mark in receiving yards, joining former Rayne High star Josh Reed (3,001 yards from 1999-2001).
