Christopher Bell won the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix from Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas on Sunday afternoon in the NASCAR Cup Series. The win marks the second straight for Bell, who also won at Atlanta last Sunday.
The race began with chaos, as the first corner saw several cars get involved in an incident. Among those affected were expected contenders Chase Elliott and Ross Chastain.
Tyler Reddick started the race on the pole, but it was clear that Shane van Gisbergen was quicker at the beginning of the race. Eventually, the #88 car made his move and was able to get passed Reddick for the lead.
Because of some track position strategy, the cars that dominated most of the first two stages did not win the stages. Bubba Wallace took home one stage while Ryan Preece got the other.
Kyle Busch emerged and was in and around the lead for much of the day. As the final stage approached, he was set up with a great chance to win the race. After van Gisbergen faltered, Christopher Bell became the car with the best chance to run down Busch.
After a drawn out battle, Bell was finally able to get by Busch for the lead. William Byron and Tyler Reddick also got by Busch, setting up a new battle for the win.
Bell was able to hold off the late charge, driving away from Byron off of the final corner to claim his second straight victory.
