
The Pennzoil 400 from Las Vegas Motor Speedway got rolling with Michael McDowell on the pole, but Joey Logano took an early lead. On Lap 34 was the first caution when Chase Briscoe lost a tire and had to serve a two-lap penalty. Ryan Blaney also had some trouble in the pits early on to add to a rough weekend.
Austin Cindric would win the first stage with Hendrick drivers Alex Bowman and Chase Elliott finishing behind him. However, Elliott would have to start stage 2 in the rear due to speeding on the pit road.
During Stage 2, more cars were losing wheels as Kyle Busch lost a wheel and ends up wrecking into the wall. On Lap 147, trouble for Todd Gilliand, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, and Shane Van Gisbergen added another caution to a yellow-flag-fueled day in Sin City.
Kyle Larson would pick up the win in Stage 2 after a fan ending to the stretch. His teammate, William Byron, finished right behind him in 2nd.
On Lap 195, two wrecks happened simultaneously in different spots on the track as Cody Ware went for a spin while a multi-car pile-up happened elsewhere.
As the race came to the final laps, many drivers started to push their machines to the absolute limit, as Josh Berry led with 15 laps to go. The 34-year-old is currently in his second season of Cup Series racing and has never gotten to Victory Lane. However, he dominated the closing stretch of the race to pick up his first career win as Daniel Suarez, Ryan Preece, William Byron, Ross Chastain, Austin Cindric, Alex Bowman, AJ Allmendinger, Kyle Larson, and Chase Elliott rounded out the top 10.
