The NBA announced on Tuesday New Orleans Pelicans guard Jrue Holiday was named the 2019-20 Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year.
Holiday received 53 first-place votes and finished ahead of Tobias Harris from the Philadelphia 76ers as well as Milwaukee Bucks guard Kyle Korver. There were 267 first-place votes possible.
This award is given to the player “deemed the best teammate based on selfless play, on- and off-court leadership as a mentor and role model to other NBA players, and commitment and dedication to team.”
Holiday released a video on the New Orleans Pelicans official Twitter account to thank the team, his teammates and the league for the honor.
The following is from the social media video:
“Thank you guys so much for awarding me with the Tywman-Stokes teammate award. I’m incredibly honored and also incredibly humbled to be a part of a list of greats in this league who have done so many things to mold my game even on and off the court.”
Utah Jazz guard Mike Conley was last year’s recipient of the award.
Holiday joins Jamal Crawford (2017-18), Dirk Nowitzki (2016-17), Vince Carter (2015-16), Tim Duncan (2014-15), Shane Battier (2013-14) and Chauncey Billups (2012-13) as winners of Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year.
