New Orleans Pelicans Remain Undefeated in the Preseason

The New Orleans Pelicans remain undefeated in the preseason after recent wins over the Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs.

The wins didn’t come easy, especially in “The Big Easy.” The Pelicans’ first home preseason game resulted in a 128-127 win for New Orleans over the Jazz and the game was as close as the score indicated.

New Orleans trailed for most of the game, but they powered past the Jazz behind a 39-point fourth quarter. They entered the final 12 minutes down 11 points. It was a Javon Bess layup in the final seconds, which was called goaltending, that gave the Pelicans the win on Friday.

Zion Williamson continued to shine with 26 points and five rebounds. He even hit a 3-pointer in the game after all the talk was about how he hit 12 shots inside three feet in his 29-point performance against the Chicago Bulls.

New Orleans then traveled to San Antonio for their fourth preseason game on Sunday.

The Pelicans started slow in this one. They only scored 16 points in the first quarter, but they picked up the pace from there. New Orleans scored 30 or more points in each of the remaining three quarters for the 123-114 win.

Williamson recorded 22 points and 10 rebounds, while fellow rookie Nickeil Alexander-Walker filled up the box score with his 13 points, seven assists and five rebounds.

The Pelicans are 4-0 in the preseason with only one game left. New Orleans will play the New York Knicks on Friday.
