The New Orleans Saints are making moves ahead of Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the San Francisco 49ers are trading linebacker Kwon Alexander to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a conditional 5th-round draft selection and linebacker Kiko Alonso.
Alexander was drafted in the fourth round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Alexander played at LSU from 2012 to 2014. He led the team with 92 total tackles in his junior season with the Tigers.
He spent four seasons with Tampa Bay before signing a four-year, $54 million deal with the 49ers in 2019.
In the 49ers’ Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Alexander recorded a tackle and a pass deflection.
Alexander has recorded 30 tackles, one sack and one forced fumble in five games this season before suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins.
The Saints and 49ers are scheduled to play on Nov. 15.
