The New Orleans Pelicans made a move before the trade deadline on Thursday.
The Pelicans are trading guard JJ Redick and forward Nicolo Melli to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for forwards James Johnson and Wes Iwundu. The Pelicans will also receive a 2021 second round pick in the deal.
Redick has been dealing with a right heel injury since March 3. He signed with New Orleans in 2019. Redick played in 31 games this season, averaging 8.7 points on 36.7 percent from the 3-point line per game.
Melli and Johnson are also on the final year of their respective contracts.
New Orleans did not trade guard Lonzo Ball after multiple reports throughout the week indicated interest from other teams.
