Free agent center DeAndre Jordan is signing a one-year contract with the New Orleans Pelicans, according to Jeff Schwartz and Shams Charania.
The deal will pay the 37-year old $3.6 million.
Jordan is a 17-year veteran who has played in more than 1100 games in his NBA career. A second-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Clippers, he played his first 10 seasons in LA, making an All-Star team and once being 1st-Team All-NBA.
From there he has bounced around, playing for six different teams across his last seven seasons. Last year, he played in 56 games for the Denver Nuggets, averaging 3.7 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
The Pelicans entered the season with center being by far their weakest position. Free agent acquisition Kevon Looney is injured to start the season, and starting center Yves Missi went down in the first game of the year against Memphis. Jordan adds some depth to a depleted room early in the campaign.
The Pelicans are in action for their home-opener tonight against the San Antonio Spurs at 7:00 PM inside the Smoothie King Center.
