The Pelicans early season woes are far from over if Tuesday game against the Orlando Magic is any sign of things to come.
The Magic were led by Evan Fournier who tore up the pitiful defense of the Pelicans for a career high 30 points on the way to a 103-94 win for Orlando.
Former Ragin Cajun Elfrid Payton had a relatively quiet game only scoring eight points, getting four boards, 10 assists, and steal on the night.
The Pelicans were led by Eric Gordon with 21 points, two boards, and four assists. Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday were behind Gordon with 14 points apiece in the loss. Davis continues to have a slow start to his season shooting 3-for-12 from the field and going 0-2 from the three-point line.
But Davis was far from the only player on this Pelicans squad struggling. As a team, the Pelicans went 35.6% from the field and were an abysmal 33.3% from three-point range.
But the most telling stat was the points in the paint where the Magic outscored the Pelicans 56-34.
The Pelicans (0-4) stay at home and will take on the Atlanta Hawks on Friday, November 6th with tipoff set for 7 pm.
