PELICANS GAMER: Mavericks set franchise record in win over New Orleans

Another hot shooting night dooms the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Pelicans 143-130 behind a franchise record 25 made 3-pointers.

Dallas’ Luka Doncic (46) and Kristaps Porzingis (36) combined for 82 points in the win.

The Pelicans are now 11-14 overall for the season after the loss on Friday night.

How It Happened:

Kristaps Porzingis got off to a hot start for the Mavericks, while Brandon Ingram matched Porzingis offensive production in the opening quarter.

Porzingis made four 3-pointers in the first quarter. Ingram scored 12 of his 30 points in the first 12 minutes.

The Pelicans entered the second quarter leading 34-27.

Dallas outscored New Orleans 42-31 in the second. The Mavericks went into the halftime break with a four-point lead.

The Mavericks took a second quarter lead with 5:06 left in the half. Jalen Brunson hit a 3-pointer to give Dallas a 54-52 lead.

The game started to get away from the Pelicans Doncic connected on a 3-pointer to give the Mavericks a 91-80 lead with 6:54 left in the third.

The Mavericks led by as a much as 13 points before the third quarter ended. The Pelicans trailed 108-101 going into the final quarter.

New Orleans cut the deficit down to just four points with 11:15 remaining after a JJ Redick 3-pointer. That was the closets the Pelicans would be for the rest of the game as the Mavericks brought their lead to as many as 16.

Pelicans guard Lonzo Ball hit the final shot of the game and New Orleans lost 143-130.

Big Number: 25

The Pelicans allowed 25 made 3-pointers to the Mavericks. Dallas shot 55.6 percent from behind the 3-point line.

Player of the Game: Luka Doncic

Doncic filled up the box score for Dallas. He scored 46 points on 17-of-30 shooting from the field to go along with eight rebounds and 12 assists.
