The New Orleans Pelicans (17-16) were certainly feeling the good vibes of the state of Florida as they’re coming off of a back-to-back with wins over both the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat after a 109-94 victory on Saturday over the Heat.
The first quarter saw both teams exchanging the lead multiple times early on with the Heat holding a three-point lead with 3:57 left. The lead wound up changing multiple times in the final moments, but the Heat took a one-point lead after a three-pointer as time expired in the quarter from James Johnson.
The Pelicans began to get out in front midway through the second quarter with a 12-2 run and were able to hang on late to take a 56-54 lead into the break.
The Heat came close to getting back in front in the third quarter, but another big run from New Orleans was enough to take a 14-point lead into the fourth quarter thanks to nine points and six boards from Anthony Davis. Jrue Holiday officially put the game on ice with 5:48 left with a three-pointer from 27 feet out to make it 104-81.
The Pelicans will return to the Smoothie King Center on Wednesday when they take on the Brooklyn Nets (12-20) with tipoff set for 7 pm.
