Pelicans zapped by Thunder in 36-point blowout

On Monday, the New Orleans Pelicans took a 137-101 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Dejounte Murray and CJ McCollum were both out of action for the Pelicans.

Trey Murphy III scored a team-high 23 points with seven rebounds and five assists. Zion Williamson totaled 17 points, five assists, and two rebounds over 26 minutes. Murphy and Williamson combined for nine turnovers.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge for Oklahoma City with a game-high 31 points in three quarters. Oklahoma City’s squad set a franchise-record for most three-point shots made in a game with 27. In a steal-heavy night, the Thunder scored 40 points off 22 forced turnovers.

New Orleans was outscored in each quarter of the match. By halftime, Oklahoma City held a firm 72-50 lead. The Thunder decided to rest starters Gigeous-Alexander, Chet Holgrem, Luguentz Dort, and Isaiah Hartenstein for the fourth quarter.

New Orleans now holds a 12-41 season record. They are on a nine-game losing streak.
