Pelicans’ Zion Williamson selected as Western Conference All-Star reserve

Zion Williamson is an All-Star.

The 2021 All-Star Game reserves were announced on Tuesday. Each NBA head coach voted for seven players in their respective conference. They voted for two backcourt, three frontcourt and and two players at any position.

This will be Williamson’s first All-Star game appearance after being selected No. 1 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Williamson is averaging 25.1 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 32.8 minutes per game this season. The Pelicans are 13-17 overall.

The rest of the reserves selected from the Western Conference are Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis, LA Clippers forward Paul George, Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert and guard Donovan Mitchell and Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard.

The Eastern Conference reserves selected are Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown and forward Jayson Tatum, Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine, New York Knicks forward Julius Randle, Philadelphia 76ers guard Ben Simmons and Orlando Magic center Nikola Vučević.

The 2021 NBA All-Star game is scheduled for March 7.
