Perrin’s Performance Pushes Ragin Cajuns Past Little Rock

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns wrapped up the opening weekend of Sun Belt play the right way thanks to a solid performance by Austin Perrin on the mound, winning the rubber game against Little Rock by the score of 4-2.

How It Happened:

The Cajuns fired the first shot in the top of the second with Kole McKinnon grounding out to Christian Reyes and that allowed Orynn Veillon to reach home safely. Brennan Breaux made it a 2-0 lead in the third with a sac fly out to left field that got Hayden Cantrelle across home plate.

Louisiana put it together in the top of the fifth with a two-run inning that was capped off by an RBI single from Veillon, making it 4-0.

The wheels started to fall off a little bit when Christian Reyes finally got Little Rock on the board off of a sac bunt. Later in the inning, Riley Pittman hit an RBI single to right field to cut the deficit down to 4-2, but Jacob Schultz was able to stop the proverbial bleeding and help the Cajuns pull out the win and take the weekend series to open up conference play.

Big Number: 8

Perrin was dealing for much of the ballgame, striking out an impressive eight batters and only walked two on the afternoon.

Player of the Game: Austin Perrin

Austin Perrin bounced back after a bad outing against Loyola Marymount with an impressive seven and a third of an inning of work. He allowed two runs, but they were late in the game and thankfully Jacob Schultz was able to limit the damage when he came in and recorded his first save of the season
