The Abbeville Wildcats entered the season knowing they were really close to having something special. After all, they won a first-round playoff game a year ago. This year’s team has plans to do even more, and they are off to a good start. The Wildcats are 3-1, including an impressive win over 5A North Vermilion.
A big reason for the early success? The offensive line has been playing very well. They helped the Wildcats run the ball for over 350 yards last week against Beau Chene. One of the leaders of that group is left guard Xavier Levine. He is the subject of todays Prep Profile Q&A.

QUESTION: So coming into this season, you guys had had a nice year last season, with a playoff win. What were your expectations for the team and for yourself coming into the season?
ANSWER: We wanted to win the district and go as far as we can (in the playoffs).
Q: Starting this year, you guys have had a nice start, 3-1 already to this point. What’s been working for your offense so far this season?
A: Our offense has just had the mentality to keep pushing, doing things that we have messed up on and trying to make it our strengths.
Q: So specifically you guys have been running the football well. What goes into that and what have been your strengths running the ball?
A: We run the ball a lot, and we don’t really pass as much. Coach looks to us (our offensive line) to do what they need us to do and block and be able to make space for the running backs to get yards.
Q: What’s the focus specifically this week?
A: Really we want to rush the ball well, just like last game where we had 350 rushing yards.
Q: And who’s a guy in the NFL, or maybe college football that you like to watch play?
A: Most likely Trent Williams, from the San Francisco 49ers.
