The second half of the season for the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns has started off well with a 9-8 win on Wednesday night against Southeastern Louisiana giving them their third straight win.
How It Happened:
Tremaine Spears got the Cajuns on the board in the top of the second with an RBI single through the left side. However, Southeastern Louisiana responded in the bottom of the third with a two-run bomb from Preston Faulkner to give them a 2-1 lead.
After an RBI single from Orynn Veillon, Spears came up big yet again in the fourth with a two-run shot out to right center to give Louisiana a 4-2 lead. However, the Lions responded in a big way in the bottom frame with a three-run inning highlighted by a two-run single from Cody Grosse.
While the Lions had a big inning in the 4th, the Cajuns exploded in the sixth with a five-run inning that was highlighted by an RBI single from Hunter Kasuls, making it 9-6.
Southeastern Louisiana got close in the bottom of the eighth with an RBI triple from Bryce Steckler and an RBI single from Grosse. But Gunner Leger was able to shut them down and get the Cajuns out of Hammond with a win.
Big Number: 12
The Cajuns batters striking out 12 times on the evening was definitely not how they wanted to perform in the second game of a midweek matchup, but they were able to overcome that shortcoming with some solid hitting.
Player of the Game: Tremaine Spears
Tremaine Spears isn’t an everyday player, but with a 3-for-4 and three RBI performance on Wednesday might be a strong enough case for him to get more run.
