Posted by clintdomingue on March 25, 2017 in Latest News

Cajuns Baseball

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (12-9, 3-2 Sun Belt) scored in bunches on Saturday afternoon, but came up short in the ninth in a 7-5 loss to Troy (13-9, 7-4 Sun Belt).

The Cajuns were able to get on the board early with a pair of RBI singles from Steven Sensley and Tremaine Spears in the first. However, the Trojans were able to get within one run after Joey Denison scored off a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the second.

The Trojans would get the lead in the bottom of the third with three runs highlighted by an RBI single from Denison. The Trojans would make it 7-1 in the bottom of the eighth with three more runs capped off by a two run single by Brandon Lockridge.

The Cajuns managed to get within two runs with two outs in the ninth with a three-run double to right center field, but after a single by Kennon Fontenot and the tying run at third Alex Pinero would strike out swinging.

Nicke Lee dropped to 4-2 on the year allowing four runs off four hits, walked four, and struck out one in his two and a third innings of work.

The Cajuns will look to win the rubber match on Sunday with first pitch set for 1 pm.
