With Wednesday night’s 76-27 win over visiting Xavier of Louisiana, the Louisiana women’s basketball team extended its winning streak to four games.
The Ragin’ Cajuns are now 6-1 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Louisiana scored first as Ty Doucet made a turnaround jumper in the paint but Xavier quickly took the lead.
Victory Udechi hit a second-chance layup and then Nia Bishop made a free throw to give the Gold Nuggets a 3-2 lead.
After four turnovers in the first few minutes of the game, Louisiana cleaned things up and ended the quarter on a 9-2 run as Lanay Wheaton made a pair of three pointers.
The Ragin’ Cajuns opened the second quarter on a 10-0 run, led by five points by Doucet, to extend their lead up to 17 points.
Louisiana maintained its comfortable lead and led by 26 after a three-pointer by Destiny Rice with 1:52 left in the first half.
Xavier closed out the second with Udechi draining a three-pointer and adding a free throw but Louisiana still held a 35-13 lead at the break.
After the 7:53 mark in the third, Louisiana never allowed its lead to dip below 26 points in the third quarter and cruised to an easy victory.

The Ragin’ Cajuns got significant contributions from the non-starters as the bench scored 35 points in Wednesday’s victory.
PLAYERS OF THE GAME: Ty Doucet & Lanay Wheaton
Doucet scored 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting and pulled down eight rebounds and one blocked shot. Wheaton meanwhile came off the bench and led the team with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting and had five rebounds.
