Even with ace Spencer Arrighetti having an off night on the mound, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns still found a way to win their seventh straight game with a 10-3 win over Arkansas State on Friday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After getting three hits — but no runs — in the first two innings, Arkansas State finally got to Arrighetti in the top of the third.
Drew Tipton drew a walk and was driven in by a double by Liam Hicks. Ben Klutts then drove in Hicks with a single, and the Red Wolves had a 2-0 lead.
That lead would be taken away in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Bobby Lada led off by drawing a walk, Brennan Breaux reached on a bunt single and Drake Osborn would load the bases after drawing a walk.
Jonathan Brandon singled through the left side of the infield to score Lada. Brett Borgogno followed with another single to the left side which scored Breaux but Osborn was thrown out at home.
Tyler Robertson would be hit by a pitch which scored Brandon from third base.
Arkansas State would plate one run in the top of the fifth as Tyler Duncan scored on a fielder’s choice by Blake McCutchen. That tied the game 3-3 but the Ragin’ Cajuns would take the lead by scoring seven runs in the three innings.
Arrighetti meanwhile settled down and would leave the game after giving up three runs on seven hits, striking out seven in seven innings of work.
