The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns overcame giving up three unearned runs to rally in a 4-3 victory over McNeese on Wednesday.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
McNeese scored all three of its runs in the top of the third inning. Ben David led off by reaching base on an error. Payton Harden then got a single off of Austin Perrin and Julian Gonzales reached on a fielder’s choice.
Two batters later, Nate Fisbeck drove in David on a fielder’s choice.
McNeese would then plate two more runs after a double by Jake Dickerson.
After being held scoreless through the first three innings, Louisiana got on the board in the bottom of the fourth with a two-out solo home run by Josh Cofield.
The Ragin’ Cajuns then took the lead in the bottom of the sixth by scoring three runs.
Brett Borgogno led off the frame with a single but appeared that he would be stranded after the next two hitters recorded outs.
With two outs, Cofield stepped to the plate and drove in Borgogno.
CJ Willis then drove in Cofield with a triple and the former LSU player scored moments later when Drake Osborn got on with a double.
That would be all the run support needed for the Ragin’ Cajuns. Jack Burk earned the win in relief and Jacob Schultz picked up the save.
