After an upset run rule last night to the Fighting Tigers, Louisiana played short innings with the Louisiana Lady Techsters in a short six inning matchup 8-0 with double digit strikeouts and a home run by the Ragin’ Cajuns.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Three batters came up and three batters were out as Sam Landry threw two strikeouts in her opening pitches followed by an out to first. The Cajuns brought the first on base with a single by Maddie Hayden. Louisiana’s Laney Credeur brought in an RBI with her second home run of the season that would bring in the Cajuns first two runs of the game.

With an advance to second and third by Tech, a walk by Madie Green made bases-loaded, Meghan Schorman finished the inning to get the Cajuns out of trouble with two strikeouts. Louisiana tried to bring in another run with a home run by Alexa Langeliers but came up short.

Louisiana Tech put in their first hit of the night with a double to the center, their only on base as the next two hits to center ended in their final outs of the third. The Cajuns did no better as they took two groundouts and a fly out to end the inning 3-0.

Lindsey Edwards gave the Lady Techsters their sixth strikeout to open the fourth inning. Bailey Wright followed with a walk to first that Green would advance to third with her double to center field. Louisiana Tech would end their fourth at bat with two more strikeouts. Cajuns opened up their bats in the bottom of the fourth inning with a walk by Karly Heath to first that would start a three-batter pinch runner substitution. Jenna Kean subbed for Health to steal second and third in two balls and a foul by Langeliers before she singled up the middle bringing in Kean with a run. Louisiana tried two more times with Frankie Izard pinch running for Langeliers and Raina O’Neal pinch running for Melissa Mayeaux which ended the inning with two final outs with stolen bases.

The fifth ended quickly for the Lady Techsters with two more strikeouts and a fly out to left field. Heath for Louisiana hit a double to left center that would bring in a triple RBI giving Cajuns only two more runs to end the game in a run rule, but a pop up to the middle by Langeliers would end the fifth.

Brooke Diaz gave the final on base hit that would advance to third before two groundouts and a fly to right field would end the final inning for Louisiana Tech. Singles by Kramer Eschete, Mayeux, and Kayla Falterman made the bases loaded for Stormy Kotzelnick’s fly out to center field a single RBI bringing in Eschete. Bases loaded again with Hayden’s intentional walk brought Laney Credeur’s walk to first, the Cajuns final run to end the game by Mayeaux.

BIG NUMBER: 10

Between all three pitchers for Louisiana, they in total striked out ten batters for Louisiana Tech keeping most of their at bats to three batters.

PLAYER OF THE GAME: Laney Credeur

Credeur not only brought home the only home run of the game and her second of the season, but gave the Cajuns the final walk to end the game with Mayeaux’s run giving her three RBIs for the game.

UP NEXT: Louisiana (12-3) returns to action tomorrow in Baton Rouge against Louisiana State University in the Louisiana Crossover Event .
