After going 1-2 in their three-game road trip, the University of Louisiana women’s basketball team bounced back with a 73-68 win over South Alabama.
How It Happened:
The Ragin’ Cajuns got off to a quick start in their return to the Cajundome. UL led 15-6 to start the first quarter. They connected on their first three 3-pointers in the game.
UL led 21-10 after the first 10 minutes.
South Alabama outscored UL 16-10 in the second quarter. The Ragin’ Cajuns brought a 31-26 lead into halftime.
The Ragin’ Cajuns increased their lead to nine point after Skyler Goodwin hit a 3-pointer. It was a back-and-forth third quarter as both teams combined for 43 points.
UL maintained a six-point lead entering the final quarter.
South Alabama went on a 7-0 run to bring the UL lead down to just three points with 4:47 left in the game. However, the Ragin’ Cajuns held onto the lead to earn their ninth win of the season.
UL is now 5-1 at home and 2-1 in Sun Belt Conference play after the win over South Alabama.
Big Number: 25
The Ragin’ Cajuns second unit provided 25 points. The contributions from UL’s bench lifted them to their second conference win, outscoring South Alabama’s second unit 25-3.
Player of the Game: Ty Doucet
While Goodwin led UL with 17 points, Doucet recorded 18 rebounds in the win. The UL forward had six offensive rebounds and scored eight points.
