Theo Sliman has tested positive for COVID-19.
The University of Louisiana Athletic Department released a statement on Monday about the longtime men’s golf coach testing positive.
The statement reads, “Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Men’s Golf coach Theo Sliman has tested positive for COVID-19. On the morning of Friday, Feb. 5, while experiencing some mild symptoms, Coach Sliman tested positive during routine antigen testing. A subsequent PCR test administered on Friday yielded a positive result on the morning of Sunday, Feb. 7.”
It was also announced that assistant coach Mason Banger will take care of coaching responsibilities while Sliman is away from the team due to quarantine protocols. Banger will handle the duties until Sliman fully recovers from the illness.
The Ragin’ Cajuns’ will open the spring season this weekend at the All-American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston.
