The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (22-14-1) apparently like to live dangerously.
Fresh off of a big weekend that saw the Cajuns sweep Arkansas State, they took a walk on the wild side on Tuesday night, only getting one run in the first and still came away with the win over Tulane (18-19).
The lone score came off of a bases loaded walk in the top of the first. While that was the lone run, the Green Wave did threaten a couple of times.
In the bottom of the seventh, Colten Schmidt walked the bases loaded with two outs before being pulled in favor of Dylan Moore. The Cajuns closer got them out of the jam with a strikeout.
The same thing happened when Moore walked two straight batters which was followed up by Sal Gozzo hitting a single up the middle. The Green Wave’s misfortunes continued when Hunter Hope fouled out to Handsome Monica
Similar things wound up happening for the Green Wave in the bottom of the ninth when Grant Brown came up to the plate. With a 2-1 count, he hit it deep to left field, but Kennon Fontenot was able to catch it to end the game.
Schmidt improved to 1-0 allowing two hits, walked one, and struck out four in two and a third innings of work.
Moore got his eighth save of the year allowing two hits, four walks, and striking out three in two and a third innings of work.
The Cajuns will return to the Tigue on Wednesday to take on Southeastern (22-13) with first pitch slated for 6 pm.
