The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns softball team will have to wait a little longer to open up the 2021 season.
The Louisiana Classics, which featured a pair of games against No. 18 Baylor, were cancelled due to severe weather. Then a twinbill this week at Lamar was rescheduled for April due to the winter storm.
With severe winter weather projected to hit Birmingham, Alabama on Friday, has led to yet another schedule change for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
Louisiana’s game on Friday (vs. Southeastern Louisiana) in the UAB Green and Gold Classic has been cancelled.
The Ragin’ Cajuns will now begin play in the two-day tournament – and play its first official contest of the 2021 season – on Saturday vs. Jacksonville State. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
Louisiana will then play against UAB on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday at 10 a.m. and then close out the tournament with another game against UAB on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Ragin’ Cajuns baseball team meanwhile is moving up its start time for its season opener.
Due to anticipated cold weather in New Orleans on Friday night, Louisiana will now face Tulane at 2 p.m. instead of 6 p.m. The Ragin’ Cajuns are scheduled to play the Green Wave at 2 p.m. on Saturday and then at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
