LAFAYETTE — The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns won’t have to travel very far for NCAA postseason play.
The Ragin’ Cajuns will make the short trip across the basin as the storied program will take part in the Baton Rouge Regional held at Tiger Park. This marks the 22nd consecutive NCAA appearance and 29th appearance overall.
The four teams in the regional are top seed LSU (32-19), second seed Louisiana (44-10), third seed George Washington (37-9) and fourth seed McNeese (34-24).
The opening day of the regional will be Friday and will see LSU take on McNeese while Louisiana plays George Washington.
This is the third time in the past five years that the Ragin’ Cajuns have played in a regional hosted by the Tigers. In the 2017 and 2018 Baton Rouge Regionals, Louisiana went a combined 2-3 against LSU.
The Ragin’ Cajuns enter NCAA Regional play having claimed their 16th SBC Tournament title with a 15-3 victory over the South Alabama Jaguars on Saturday.
The Ragin’ Cajuns have advanced to a NCAA Super Regional seven times and the Women’s College World Series six times. The program though hasn’t reached a Super Regional since 2016 and the College World Series since 2014.
