After what looked to be a sign of better things last week with a win over Texas State, the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns (3-4 2-2 Sun Belt) defense took about three steps back in a crushing 47-3 loss to Arkansas State (4-2, 3-0 Sun Belt).
The Red Wolves wasted little time getting on the board with a strip-sack of Andre Nunez that was returned for a touchdown from Caleb Caston. After forcing the Cajuns to punt after two straight sacks, Arkansas State went on a quick drive down the field capped off by a one yard run from Johnston White to make it 14-0.
The lone score from the Cajuns came late in the first quarter with Artigue nailing a 51-yarder to make it 14-3. The Red Wolves continued to dominate the game in the second quarter with a 44-yard pass from Justice Hansen to Justin McInnis to make it 21-3.
Arkansas State ended the first half with a 34-3 lead after Hansen found McInnis on a short pass for his second touchdown pass of the evening.
The final nail was put in by Mason Chauncey in the fourth quarter with a 10 yard run into the endzone.
The Cajuns will have the week off before traveling to Mobile to take on South Alabama (2-4, 1-1 Sun Belt) with kickoff time to be determined.
