Shortly after the free agency period began at 5 pm central time, the New Orleans Pelicans wasted little time working the free agency market, signing veteran JJ Redick to a two-year deal.
As first reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the two-year deal is worth $26.5 million.
Redick, a 13-year veteran, is coming off one of his best seasons to date, averaging a career-high 18.1 points on 44 percent shooting while with the Philadelphia 76ers. He was also pretty solid from three-point range, shooting 39.7 percent from beyond the arc.
Redick revealed on his podcast last year that he nearly left the City of Brotherly Love for the Indiana Pacers, but ultimately decided to stick around for one more and after getting bounced out by the eventual NBA Champion Toronto Raptors in the second-round by an improbable shot at the buzzer, he decided it was time for a change.
This will be his fifth organization and will be playing with former Duke players in rookie Zion Williamson and former first-round pick Brandon Ingram and Jahlil Okafor.
