One of the key cogs for LSU’s prolific offense that just won a national title less than 24 hours ago is no longer a part of the program. According to Adam Schefter, Joe Brady is headed back to the NFL as an offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers.
Brady won the Broyles Award as the top assistant in college football this season, helping the Tigers finish the year with an undefeated record and a national championship after Monday’s win over Clemson.
There’s been chatter about Brady making the jump back to the NFL for the last couple of weeks. He was an offensive assistant with the Saints in 2017 and 2018 before making the move to Baton Rouge to help build the Tigers’ passing offense.
Just three days ago, the university and Brady agreed to a memorandum to a three-year contract doubling his $410,000 salary.
