One longtime New Orleans Pelicans assistant coach will not return to the team next season.
According to Christian Clark and Scott Kushner of The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate, New Orleans is parting ways with Jamelle McMillan.
McMillan has been with the Pelicans since 2013 and spent eight seasons with the organization. He was brought on under former New Orleans head coach Monty Williams’ staff. McMillan worked with player development and was promoted to assistant coach in 2016.
In 2017, McMillan coached the Pelicans’ Summer League team. He left New Orleans for the Phoenix Suns in 2018, but rejoined the Pelicans last season.
McMillan will not be a part of new head coach Stan Van Gundy’s coaching staff.
New Orleans retained assistant coach Fred Vinson and they have hired assistant coach Bob Beyer for the upcoming season.
