The New Orleans Saints home stadium will have a new name when the Mercedes-Benz naming-rights deal ends in 2021, as first reported by Forbes’ Christopher Dodson.
A source with WDSU also confirmed the report. The car manufacturer will not renew their contract that is currently in place for 2021. The deal was agreed upon in 2011 for 10 years that was worth $50-$60 million.
“The New Orleans Saints, the primary tenant in the Superdome, as well as state leaders are working on new sponsors and expect a deal to be completed when the agreement with Mercedes-Benz lapses,” WDSU reported.
The stadium is currently under a $450 million renovation.
The Saints home stadium opened back in 1975 and it has been the sight for games as well as other entertainment events. The stadium is scheduled to host Super Bowl LVIII in 2024.
