The New Orleans Pelicans have contacted former Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers about their head coaching vacancy, according to ESPN’s Marc Spears.
Rivers is now out as the Clippers head coach after Los Angeles was eliminated in the second round of the NBA playoffs.
New Orleans dismissed head coach Alvin Gentry following a 30-42 overall record this past season. Gentry spent five seasons with the Pelicans and made one postseason appearance.
Los Angeles finished as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference with a 49-23 overall record. Rivers recorded a 356-208 record in seven seasons as the Clippers head coach.
Spears also reported the Philadelphia 76ers contacted Rivers about their recent head coach opening. The 76ers fired Brett Brown in late August.
