Ron Roberts, the University of Louisiana’s defensive coordinator for the first two seasons under head coach Billy Napier, will be Baylor’s new defensive coordinator.
Another report by FOX Sports reporter Bruce Feldman says UL’s safeties coach Patrick Toney will take over as the Ragin’ Cajuns defensive coordinator.
Roberts is joining new Baylor head coach Dave Aranda, who was the defensive coordinator for the LSU Tigers.
The new Baylor defensive coordinator was Southeastern Louisiana’s head coach from 2012-2017 before working with Napier and the Ragin’ Cajuns.
Roberts had an 89-45 overall record with Southeastern Louisiana and improved the Ragin’ Cajuns defense in 2019. UL only allowed 19.7 points per game this past season.
Napier wrote this following statement for the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns Football official Twitter account:
“We are extremely grateful for Ron Roberts and the contributions he made to our football organization. Under Ron’s leadership, our defense made tremendous progress this past season, ranking as one of the most improved defensive units in the nation. We wish him and his family the best of luck going forward.”
