After jumping out to a 6-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh, the Royals rallied back from the dead to force a game five against the Astros on Wednesday.
Salvador Perez got things started for the Royals in the top of the second with a blast to right field. Carlos Gomez responded with a solo shot to left field in the bottom of the second to tie things up.
The Astros took the lead thanks to their star rookie Carlos Correa with a solo shot to left centerfield in the bottom of the third. Correa continued to give the Astros points in the bottom of the fifth with an RBI double that allowed George Springer to hustle home.
Then the Astros opened it up in the bottom of the seventh with Correa hitting a two-run bomb to left field and Rasmus followed to make it back-to-back jacks to put the Astros up 6-2.
But, the Royals woke up in the top of the eighth with five runs to take a 7-6 lead. Eric Hosmer put the dagger in the Astros hopes of a rally with a two-run blast to right center field to go up 9-6.
Tony Sipp is credited with the loss, despite only pitching one-third of an inning and allowing one run off of one hit.
The Astros will travel back to Kansas City on Wednesday for a do or die game five with first pitch scheduled for 7 pm. Colin McHugh will start for the Astros. McHugh started game one and threw six innings and allowed two runs off of four hits.
