Not many kickers get their names in the rafters of NFL stadiums. But then again, not a whole lot of kickers have careers like Morten Andersen.
Andersen, one of the greatest kickers in NFL history, was announced on Monday as the Saints’ newest addition to the ring of honor. During the announcement, the Saints Head Coach Sean Payton stated that the legendary kicker deserves to be in the pro football hall of fame.
And the Saints head coach has a solid point. Andersen was a Hall of Fame finalist last year, and is the NFL record holder for games played (382), points scored (2,544), and field goals made (565).
The Saints will honor Morten Andersen during a Saints game at the Mercedes Benz Superdome this season.
