The New Orleans Saints added a fourth quarterback to the roster Wednesday in K.J. Costello. Before being a Saint, Costello played college ball at Stanford and then transferred to Mississippi State. He was also in the USFL recently as the Philadelphia Stars starting signal caller.
Costello was brought in mainly due to Jameis Winston missing the last couple of practices with a foot injury and the only other healthy QBs on the roster being Andy Dalton and Ian Book. Taysom Hill who previously played the quarterback at times for the Saints has now been moved and is focused on learning the tight end position.
The former 6’5″ Bulldog and Cardinal threw for 7,434 yards and 55 touchdowns compared to 29 interceptions on a 62.9 completion percentage. He was a product of Mike Leach’s “Air Raid” offense in 2020, including throwing for 623 yards against the defending National Champion LSU Tigers.
