The New Orleans Saints have traded star cornerback Marshon Lattimore to the Washington Commanders, according to multiple reports on Tuesday.

The trade is reportedly for Lattimore and a fifth-round pick. Yhe Saints are expected to receive a third, fourth, and sixth round pick from Washington, according to Josina Anderson.

Lattimore was part of the Saints’ incredible 2017 draft, which also saw them select Alvin Kamara, Ryan Ramcyzk, and others. He quickly became one of the league’s most effective corners, earning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. Additionally, he made the Pro Bowl that year, and has made four in total in his career.

Lattimore had 15 interceptions as a member of the Saints, to go along with more than 400 tackles. So far this season, he had accumulated 30 tackles.

Mike Triplett reports that the Saints will have to assume more than $31 million in dead cap money next year for Lattimore. They will save around $36.5 million that would have been owed to him over the next couple of seasons.

The move comes after the Saints fired head coach Dennis Allen on Monday. They are 2-7 this season and have lost seven games in a row.
