MCKINNEY, Texas — Scottie Scheffler picked up his first PGA Tour victory of 2025 on Sunday afternoon and did so in dominant fashion.

The No. 1-ranked golfer in the world cruised to a victory at The CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch. On Sunday, he shot eight-under-par for an eight-stroke victory. He finished the tournament 31-under par, breaking the tournament scoring record of 26-under par set by K.H. Lee in 2021.

Scheffler dominantly started Sunday as he shot a 30 on the front nine. He would birdie No. 2 but turned around and got a bogey on No. 3. He responded with birdies on No. 4 through 7. He then closed out the front nine with an eagle on the Par 5 No. 9.

He would get another birdie on No. 11, which put him at 30-under for the tournament with seven holes to go. Scheffler would then birdie No. 14 and 15. He gave a shot back with a bogey on No. 17 but closed out with a par on No. 18.

Scheffler finished the tournament with a total score of 253, which is tied for the lowest 72-hole total score in PGA Tour history.

Scheffler’s dominance overshadowed a great tournament and a tremendous Sunday by Erik van Rooyen. He shot eight under on Sunday and was 23-under par for the tournament to finish second.

Texas native Jordan Spieth shot the low round on Sunday with a bogey-free nine-under 62. Spieth made nine birdies and nine pars on the day. Spieth finished 19-under par and earned a fourth-place finish. The final round of 62 tied the lowest final round score of his PGA Tour career. He also shot a final round 62 at the 2013 Deutsche Bank Championship.

Former LSU All-American Sam Burns finished in the Top 5 with a six-under 65. Burns birdied No. 1, 5, 6, 8, 14, and 15, but he also carded bogeys on No. 4 and 12. Burns finished phenomenally with an eagle on No. 18. Burns was tied for fifth with Mark Hubbard, Will Gordon, Takumi Kanaya, Eric Cole, and Adam Schenk.

The PGA Tour will have two events next week, with the Truist Championship in Flourtown, Pennsylvania, and ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic in South Carolina. Those are the last tournaments before the PGA Championship, which is held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
