A seventh inning surge was exactly what the Cajuns needed on Tuesday night to beat the New Orleans Privateers (6-2) by the score of 7-4.
The Privateers got on the board in the top of the first off of Aaron Palmer grounding into a double play that led to Ryan Calloway to make it to home plate.
Samuel Capielano increased the Privateers lead to 2-0 in the top of the third off a grounder.
Joe Robbins finally got the Cajuns on the board with a sac fly in the bottom of the fifth that scored Alex Pinero.
Jay Robinson kept the Cajuns at bay in the top of the seventh with an RBI triple and was sent home by Calloway to put the Privateers up 4-1.
But the Cajuns bats woke up in the bottom of the seventh with back-to-back home runs by Ishmael Edwards and Robbins. Derek Herrington knotted things up with an RBI single and Dylan Poncho gave the Cajuns the lead later in the inning with an RBI single of his own.
Brenn Conrad hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to increase the lead and Stefan Trosclair put it away with a triple down the right field line that sent Conrad home.
Will Bacon got his first win of the year in relief after a tough start by Hogan Harris. The senior allowed two runs off of six hits, and struck out two batters in four innings of work. Dylan Moore got his first save of the year with two strikeouts in one inning of work.
The Cajuns (5-3) will head up to Lake Charles on Wednesday to take on McNeese (3-4) with first pitch scheduled for 6 pm.
