After a banner year quarterbacking the St. Thomas More Cougars, Walker Howard received one more honor to wrap up his junior season.
Howard, an LSU commit for the class of 2022, was named the 2021 Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year. He is the first player from St. Thomas More to receive the award.
Howard led the Cougars to a Division II State Championship and a perfect 10-0 record in 2020, throwing for 3,430 yards and 39 touchdowns. His stellar season was capped off with 381 yards passing and four touchdowns in a 35-28 win over De La Salle in the state title game.
Howard joins recent Gatorade Louisiana Football Players of the Year Christian Westcott (2019-20, Lakeshore High School), Derek Stingley Jr. (2018-19, Dunham School), Slade Bolden (2017-18, West Monroe High School), and Keytaon Thompson (2016-17, Landry-Walker High School).
