After only one season as the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans, Stan Van Gundy’s time with the franchise has come to a sudden end.
As first reported by Andrew Lopez and Adrian Wojnarowski, the 61-year-old coach are parting ways.
Van Gundy led the Pelicans to a 31-41 record, which was marred by Van Gundy failing to turn around New Orleans’ defense and struggled to connect with a roster full of players who are in their early 20s.
Two early candidates that have been talked about include Pelicans assistant Teresa Witherspoon and Milwaukee Bucks assistant Charles Lee.
