The New Orleans Pelicans head coaching search is heating up.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pelicans interviewed former Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy on Tuesday.
Ty Lue, Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach and former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach, reportedly has a meeting later this week with New Orleans.
It was reported by ESPN’s Andrew Lopez earlier this week the team was expected to start interviewing finalists for the head coaching vacancy by the end of the week and interviews may go into next week.
Van Gundy is 523-384 overall in the regular season as a head coach. He is 48-43 in the postseason and led the Magic to the NBA Finals in 2009.
Lue will meet with New Orleans this week, but Wojnarowski reports he has “gathered significant momentum with the Houston Rockets.” He led the Cavaliers to the 2016 NBA title.
